Taking the Long View: A Systemic Approach to Student Success in K-5 Reading

This session will focus on one school’s story of MTSS implementation in reading in juxtaposition with a synthesis of current research on the implementation of MTSS in elementary schools. Participants will have the chance to assess and reflect on their own MTSS implementation opportunities, challenges, and next steps.

In this session, participants will:
  • Learn about one school’s experience implementing an MTSS framework for elementary reading (Path to Reading Excellence in School Sites - PRESS)
  • Review the relevant MTSS implementation research for reading
  • Understand common challenges of program implementation, while also receiving suggestions for successful application in a diversity of school settings
  • Learn about a new tool for evaluating MTSS implementation in reading at school sites.
